Segment LCDs are far from old hat, even 32bit Microcontrollers have been quietly evolving to include LCD Segment Drivers. The CL010-1084 LCD from Tri-T is optimised for a 160 segment LCD controller such as the EFM32 from www.energymicro.com. Typically a segment LCD will be needed if you need cost under 1 USD or current consumption under 50 uA. The CL010-1084 will be useful for :-
